This deflated chair originated from a previous project where Orson Oxo Van Beek shrunk an iconic piece of furniture. While researching into an in-between phase of objects he wanted to explore this matter in a more material based context.
Starting with a generic archetype shape of a chair, which was very cubist, made out of soft density foam which has small air bubbles within its material substance.Orson wrapped this foam block in a large scaled vacuüm bag and in this way shrunk the whole piece by 25%.
This projects was shown at OBJECT Rotterdam 2020 at the Haka Building.
